Saint Michael, Patron of Paratroopers

Did you even know that there was a patron saint for paratroopers? I had no clue. I'm not a paratrooper by the way, I'm just in an Airborne unit, but that's still an interesting factoid. Noteworthy: He is also the patron of mariners, the sick, and grocers. Which explains my uncanny connection with the smelly dude at the Food Lion. I had been worried for a minute.

I haven't posted in this journal in years. Mostly this is because I've had busy job after busy job in the Army since then and my off time has been pretty precious. Most of my time was spent talking to my wife Catrina, whom I married in December of 2007. Right now I'm sitting in Kuwait, at the end of my second OIF tour waiting to return home on Sunday (should get home Monday morning). I have some time so I thought this might be a good opportunity to begin posting again.

When I get home I'll go through a series of reintegration, block leave, ACAPing (preparation for separating from the Army), and then eventually I will end my term of service with the Army and I'll go home to live in San Diego with my wife.

As part of my new life, I intend to adopt a new lifestyle of slow physical progression, spending TONS of quality time with my wife (living life to the fullest you might say), and packing as much useful information into my brain as possible. That last one is to compensate for having forgotten most of what I learned in school and for filling the void from all of the Army crap that I need to UNlearn as soon as humanly possible.

So to all of you Benjournal fans out there (both of you [hi boots! {boots is my cat}]), look forward to more posts and a new, absurdly awesome graphical layout with links to websites that I find interesting AND that still exist!!!

Stay classy, whale's vahjay-jay!
(and thanks for stopping by)
