Pictures from Iraq

Here's a few pictures I took over here. I'm not in most of them because.. well.. I have to TAKE the pictures, see.

Here's a nice view of the Palace. This is on my walk to work every day. If you made a right face and walked about a half a mile you'd be at my trailer.

Here's another view of the palace showing the bridge that we blew up. Supposedly the story is that there was an escape tunnel underneath it.. so it had to go.

Here's a view of the lake that's behind and around the Palace. I was in a Vehicle when I took this, thus the bad quality.

Here we have a picture of some of the flooding we had when it rained for like three days straight. This is a week and a half later though. It was really horrible before it subsided a little. Those trailers are about what mine are like. This is actually a picture of Dodge City North, where a trailer got hit by a mortor shortly before I got to Iraq.

Here is a building. It has a dome on it. That is all.

Here is me on what USED to be Saddam Houssein's throne. Most of my readers have probably already seen this one though.

Here's me in an old bunker. I can't remember why I'm croutching so low.. I must just think I'm taller than I really am.

Okay, these last few pictures are all along my usual run-route around what is called Lost Lake. It's about two miles around, to give you a sense of scale.

Here is a mosk! As you can see it's right outside the wire.

Doesn't this look like it'd be a nice place to have a party? Oh, note the smoke from an IED attack outside the wire in the background. The black smoke indicates it's burning stuff, so it's most likely a VBIED (vehicle-borne improvised explosive device).

Yet another building on Lost Lake. Note the nifty drawbridge. I heard a rumor that they kept Saddam there after capturing him for a short while... but you hear a lot of things in the Army and it's probably not true.
