If somebody told you the life of a cat is a simple one, somebody lied.
Last night my friend and I went out and he ended up being too drunk to go retreive his car. So being the good friend that I am I told him I'd come get him in the morning to take him to his car in time for him to get to work. While I was over at his house this morning I watched as his cat, Chiheero (I know I spelled that wrong), mercilessly pounced and attacked anything that moved. The bristles of the sheepkin rug, the dangling blinds, my foot, etc.. It just wouldn't stop moving. It was cute to say the least. I like playful cats. I like to goad them into pouncing me as I walk past and I like wrestling with them like my hand is a fellow cat.
...I know, I'm weird.
My friend came out of the bathroom and was like, "Oh, you must be hungry." and proceeded to feed the cat. I chimed in, "Well of course, she's been fighting evil all morning." Itt occurred to me that to this cat she wasn't just playing.. in her imagination she was on a very serious mission: PROTECT THE WORLD FROM THE FORCES OF EVIL.
One thing Chiheero really likes to do is steal chopsticks or nab the straws from people's glasses. If they aren't confiscated, she takes them to some mysterious undisclosed location... her straw-and-chopstick graveyard. But to her, she isn't murdering these useful eating and drinking tools. No, she is killing them before they can have the chance to kill!
It gives me pause to wonder how horrifying it must be to Chiheero when she accidently steps in her pile of straws and chopsticks and "realizes" that they are still "alive". She must feel like Neo facing hundreds of thousands of iterations of Agent Smith.
So what's the point I'm trying to make? There is none really. I'm just bored. Bye!

Time glides.
I've been on block leave since Thanksgiving day. I go back to Ft. Bragg on Sunday, 12 December. I'll then have a couple of weeks before I go overseas. What sucks is that it seems like I just got here and it's like half over. Ah well, I'll just have to make the most of what I've got left. I want to see if I can make a video with my friends (we like to make little movies) while I'm here, but that'll take at least two full days, and I don't know if I can get everyone needed together for that long on such short notice.
I've been THRILLED to see a lot of the movies that I missed during Basic Training and AIT. Things that just came out on video like the Chronicles of Riddick and Spiderman 2 were SO good. That's not news to you all, but it's been nice to see really good movies again. I'm ULTRA STOKED about Ocean's 12, which comes out while I'm here. On December 10 me and my family WILL be lined up an hour early outside the theater to ensure we get el primo seating. Fan-dan-go!
There was an Ocean's 12 special on yesterday which I just now watched. I was out with my dad and some of our mutual buddies talking philosophy, studying the Bible, and of course, consuming alcomohol. So yeah, I had my sisters tape it and it had a really nice quote from Carl Reiner on it. The original script for Ocean's 12 gave him a really big role and he read it and was pleased, but nonetheless said, "I'm the oldest person here and when people like me and my wife get to be this age, 3 and a half months is a really long time.." So he asked for a smaller role so he could be around his wife more. I thought that was nice.
On Tuesday, my older sister Megan really wanted to go hiking. It was raining like a mofo though. I told her we'd see how it was in a few hours and.. it really didn't get any better. She still reeeeally wanted to go though, so I went along with it and we went to this place called Fern Cliff. And I am SO glad that I went. Yes, it was wet and smooshy... but absolutely gorgeous.
There's a trail there that goes along a nice, clear little creak. Because it was pouring though, it was very torrid and beautiful. Also, this trail runs between tall bluffs on either side. There were five large waterfalls all around us, along with a multitude of smaller ones. It was absolutely gorgeous. We went off the trail to hike around behind a couple of the largest waterfalls where there was a dry cave-like area. It was just wonderful.
I apologized for griping and admitted that I was glad we went, though I later complained about how my socks and shoes were sopping wet. I'm just a whiner.
